Johnson announces London's low carbon zones
Ten London boroughs will share a £3 million pot to create low carbon neighbourhoods.
The grants, announced by mayor Boris Johnson, will fund projects including charging points for electric vehicles, low cost insulation and energy doctors to advise people on making their homes more energy efficient.
The ten areas will get between £150,000 and £400,000 each from the London Development Agency.
The low carbon areas are Barking town centre, Muswell Hill, Archway, Brixton, Lewisham town centre, Wandle Valley, Ham and Petersham, Peckham, Hackbridge and Queen’s Park.
The zones aim to reduce carbon emissions by 20.12 per cent by 2012 as part of the mayor’s pledge to cut London’s carbon output by 60 per cent by 2025.

Carbon, carbon, carbon. They don't even mean carbon, they just mean CO2. Methane (28 times more damaging than CO2) is also a carbon compound but never considered and rarely tackled. Nitrous oxide (310 times worse) is even less likely to be considered (except as a minor component of vehicle exhausts) and when it comes to HCFCs (1,900 times worse)....??
I'm not knocking any attempt to reduce atmospheric CO2, but at the moment it's the only box for bureaucrats to tick. Ooops!...the elephant in the room has just farted again.
