Among them will be Sue Riddlestone of sustainability consultancy BioRegional, pushing the case for greener communities. If Inside Housing and Footprint’s Sustainable Housing Awards last Friday were anything to go by, Ms Riddlestone will have plenty to shout about (see Footprint for details).

Perhaps the sustainability agenda might also offer a solution to what is now a perennial question: what can be done with the Thames Gateway?
The proposal this week to turn the so-called ‘largest regeneration opportunity in Europe’ into an eco-quarter may smack of desperation, but perhaps it might finally be a step in the direction towards establishing the sort of identity called for this week by designer Wayne Hemmingway.
