ALMOs petition over funding delay
Arm’s-length management organisations have set up a petition demanding the government reverse its raid on their funding.
The National Federation of ALMOs created the petition on the Number 10 website following the decision to defer funding for ALMOs in round six of funding bids. Those ALMOs who had not received their two-stars from the Audit Commission will now have to wait until 2011/12.
The NFA is demanding the government release the Decent Homes funding for these ALMOs as soon as they qualify. The petition says: ‘The Decent Homes programme has improved the lives of tenants in some of the worst housing in the country. It has also created and sustained many jobs and apprenticeships. Diverting funding will put many of these at risk.
‘ALMOs are calling on the government to stand by its pledge to council tenants whose housing conditions are amongst the worst in the country.’
Gwyneth Taylor, NFA policy director, said: ‘This is part of our overall campaign to bring attention to the impact of the Decent Homes funding on tenants.’

Just signed the petition!
This utterly outrageous government decision needs to be met with a robust judicial review, on human rights grounds and any other cogent legal ground.
Let the campaign go to the tenants - an election looms!
