Thorndick to leave WKHA

The high-profile chief executive of West Kent Housing Association is to leave her role to run a new social housing consultancy.

Barbara Thorndick is taking over as managing director of West Kent Consulting. WKHA set up the consultancy on a small scale in 2008 but Ms Thorndick’s move will see it become a separate, legal entity. She will divide her time between both jobs until a permanent chief executive for the association is recruited later this year.

She will also step down from her role as the chair of Place Shapers Group, which champions the cause of community-based housing associations, later this month.

Ms Thorndick said West Kent Consulting would be separate from, but would work with the association to develop and road test best practice, she said. ‘We can create a learning loop,’ she added.
