Scottish federation appoints new chief
The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations has named its new chief executive.
Dr Mary Taylor will take up the reins at the SFHA in three months, replacing Jacqui Watt who left last month to head up a trade body in Australia.
Dr Taylor said: ‘I relish the challenge of helping housing associations and housing co-operatives to work together to shape the future of the sector, and to get beyond its recent difficulties.
‘I am delighted that the board has offered me the role of chief executive and I look forward to starting in a few months.
‘I will be listening to the views of members and those the SFHA would like to welcome once again as members.’
Dr Taylor has spent 32 years working in the Scottish housing sector and worked with committees of various housing associations as well as on the board of the SFHA.
Her career ranges from being a housing management trainee at Scottish Special Housing Association to senior teaching fellow at the University of Stirling.
She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and currently a member of the Scotland board of CIH.
Lorna Paterson, chair of the SFHA, said: ‘Mary will bring proven leadership skills to the job along with in-depth knowledge of the Scottish housing sector and we are confident that she can provide the clear strategic direction which the federation needs.’
