ALMO secures two-star rating
Rykneld Homes has received the inspection rating it needs to unlock its decent homes funding.
Audit Commission inspectors said the arm’s-length management organisation provides a ‘good’, two-star service with ‘promising’ prospects for improvement.
The round six ALMO, which manages 8,300 homes on behalf of North East Derbyshire Council, was praised for completing repairs and gas maintenance on time and involving residents. However, it came under fire for taking too long to provide aids and adaptations for disabled tenants.
Rykneld Homes was set up in April 2007. The commission’s report said the organisation had improved housing management services for North East Derbyshire Council tenants.
The ALMO will not receive its cash immediately as it was part of a group of round six ALMOs whose funding was deferred by the govenrment in July 2009.
Ann Bennett, lead housing inspector for the Audit Commission in the east midlands, said: ‘Rykneld Homes provides an effective range of services, including day-to-day repairs and dealing with anti-social behaviour. It is also concentrating on improving tenants’ homes and achieving value for money.’
