Notting Hill in Acas talks
A housing association where staff went on strike over terms and conditions is holding talks with a trade union through arbitration service Acas.
Notting Hill Housing Group and Unison met with the mediators last Friday following a strike and demonstrations over changes to conditions.
The union agreed that there would be no further action while talks continued. Previously it had considered more industrial action in the dispute over carers’ leave, relocation and redeployment allowances.
The talks focused on ‘creating a more amicable atmosphere in which negotiations can take place’, according to Colin Inniss, Unison’s regional officer for London. Discussions did not cover the disputed terms and conditions, which will be dealt with later.
A Notting Hill spokesperson said the organisation and the union had agreed a new approach to ‘encourage greater dialogue between management and staff, and greater involvement for staff in decisions which affect their work.’
