Supported housing provider picks merger partner
Troubled supported housing provider Carr-Comm has announced which organisation it will merge with.
Carr-Gomm, which posted an operating deficit of £2 million for two successive years, will merge with Sanctuary Group.
The supported housing activities of the two organisations will come together as ‘Sanctuary Carr-Gomm’.
Gary Lashko, formerly the chief executive of Carr-Gomm, will become Sanctuary Carr-Gomm’s director of supported living.
The board of Carr-Gomm chose Sanctuary from a shortlist of three which also included Stonham, part of Home Group, and Richmond Fellowship.
Sanctuary Carr-Gomm provides support and accommodation for groups including homeless people, those with mental ill-health issues or learning disabilities, teenage parents and babies, and those experiencing drug and alcohol problems or domestic abuse.
Mr Lashko said: ‘This is a new chapter in Carr-Gomm’s life. Joining Sanctuary will enable us to deliver a greater range of high quality services that will benefit a diverse range of clients.‘
David Bennett, Sanctuary Group’s chief executive, said: ‘Carr-Gomm has established an excellent reputation in the supported housing sector and I believe that by combining our strategic and financial strength with Carr-Gomm’s knowledge and expertise we will undoubtedly achieve greater business efficiencies and improved services, bringing fresh benefits and opportunities to all our clients.’
