Greater Manchester to build 670 new homes
Local authorities in Greater Manchester and the Homes and Communities Agency have announced a £25.3 million deal for new homes and regeneration.
The funding, which is part of the Greater Manchester local investment plan, will deliver 670 new homes and is part of a projected £400 million investment across the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities over fifteen months.
Lord Peter Smith, AGMA chair, said: ‘The new £25.3 million allocations will ensure that we continue to deliver much needed homes across Greater Manchester and will also help deliver our shared vision for the economic growth vital for the future of the city region.’
The HCA and AGMA launched the LIP in December 2009. It co-ordinates plans for housing and regeneration across the AGMA area.
Deborah McLaughlin, HCA director for the north west, said: ‘This is an excellent example of how we are working with our partners to understand and realise the local priorities for investment.
‘We have worked hard with AGMA to provide the best possible support to these high-quality schemes which are of great local importance and give tremendous value for money.’

Did they get the required 90% support, or have they not gone for planning yet.
Great to see that the local investment plan is alive and well.

This local investment plan doesn't need 90% support from the 'community' - you are thinking of the Government's Community Right to Build proposals, where the threshold has been provisionally set at 90% local support. However that scheme is intended to apply to small rural communities, where the threshold is set at no more than 10% growth of the village/hamlet etc over 10 years. For everywhere else the New Homes Bonus scheme is supposed to deliver more new homes through incentives.
