Sarah Webb dies following battle with illness
The chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing died yesterday just days after standing down from the role.
Sarah Webb passed away on Sunday, surrounded by her family and close friends, following a period of ill health.
She stepped down as chief executive of the CIH last week ago, handing over responsibility to interim chief executive Grainia Long on 29 August.
In a statement the CIH said: ‘Sarah’s death is an enormous loss and we are incredibly sad. We can think of no better colleague, no better inspiration and to many of us no better friend. It has been a privilege to work with Sarah.’
Ms Webb had been chief executive of the institute since January 2008. She led the CIH’s policy and practice directorate for four years prior to taking on the chief executive role, and had previously worked at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Birmingham City Council.
She was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list in 2010.
