Colleagues of Affinity Sutton’s chief executive Keith Exford were left reaching for their sunglasses thanks to Chelsea’s victory in the Champions League final.
Mr Exford, who is a regular at Stamford Bridge, strode into work in a bright blue suit on Monday morning (the colour of Chelsea’s kit, for non-
football fans) with a large smile on his face. As is any football supporter’s right in such circumstances, Mr Exford spent the day teasing colleagues ‘who support other London teams’.
But will Mr Exford take things a step further at the Chartered Institute of Housing’s Manchester conference if England wins its opening group match at the European Championship?
Closed Circuit is hoping for a fully face-painted cross of St George.
It has been said before that politicians will do anything for your vote. But Labour MP Stella Creasy has resorted to tactics probably last used during her days manning the hustings at student elections.
Appealing to her Twitter followers to urge their MPs to back a proposal that would give the Financial Services Authority powers to tackle irresponsible doorstep lending, Ms Creasy has offered to make cake for ‘the best celeb’ to retweet information about her campaign.
She may be vehemently against loansharking, but a touch of bribery appears to be OK. Or maybe she just sees it as a trifling matter…
Judging by the number of people queuing for coffee at Starbucks most days, it is fair to say that many of us need something to kick-start our day and wake us up. For Lord David Freud, though, mere caffeine is not enough.
The welfare reform minister revealed to Closed Circuit that he has been swimming in Hampstead’s outdoor pond most mornings for the past decade to wake up.
‘I swim there all through winter. It’s very cold, it goes down to half a degree,’ he said.
Not content with that, Lord Freud then jumps on a bicycle, cycles into the Department for Work and Pensions ‘into the deluge of sorting out the welfare system’. Closed Circuit would rather stick with its skinny latte.
