Something seriously wrong with recruitment (2)

Discussion > On the ground

It's been pretty obvious from my contact with various councils and social landlords that when positions have become vacant they are not being replaced, as one measure of saving money, and that job cuts are affecting a lot of lower paid staff proportionally more than managers.

We are aware of this problem and are trying to find a way to make the system more usable without leaving it vulnerable to some of the security issues the html block is designed to address. In the meantime if you paste your comment into a simple text editor - such as notepad on PCs - and then into the forum it should work. It is best to avoid email addresses and hyperlinks as well, although if you paste a URL into the post it should work (although it will not be a link).

it means the same as giving advice and assistance for people that aren't priority need under the homeless act.  give them a piece of paper with some contact numbers for landlords and nightshelters and let them sort themselves out.

Sounds like you have gotten some very poor advice from the LA. When you went to court ( I take it you were on a Assured Shorthold tenancy or a licence?) did you mention that the LA had told you to stay put until the landlord evicted you? Unfortunately you are in the world of temp accommodation, where the local housing allowance is king. It might be the council is paying the max permitted for that property £900 and the new couple are covering the shortfall? As for the Housing Officer leaving....housing has massive turn over of staff, the ...

All i see around me is evidence of a society divided up by race age & gender & sexual orientation in fact a more cynical part of me wud say theres a Nazi program being put in place. I see buy to let landlords running nice homes better than government housing but excluding the poor from major cities using the LHA system. RSLs budgets being slashed making their task of providing decent homes impossible & yet tenant empowerment programs being setup which is easy to see will plug the gap & replace RSLs which shud face bankruptucy soon. Homeownership ...

yes i have moved into a flat that on closer inspection has been bogded & fitted with low grade fittings that when fallls apart is considered broken by the tenant so repair company wont repair. The flat fails the decent homes act & the is a carbon positive home & has made me ill & financially crippled me in trying to heat the place & the association is failing to help me get out of fuel poverty.
