The six exceptional individuals and nine outstanding teams named as this year’s Housing Heroes wowed fellow guests at last week’s uplifting awards ceremony in their honour.

Working in housing is so full-on that it’s all too easy to forget that what our sector does is extraordinary. The Housing Heroes allow us to pause and remind ourselves of the amazing work that you, your colleagues and your residents do each and every day.

From Francis Kabis, the neighbourhood warden whose bravery knows no bounds, to the Derbyshire development team overcoming the odds to build vital council homes - and with countless tales of tenacity and dedication in between - the remarkable 2010 heroes give us all something to be proud of.

With savage spending cuts about to hit, our heroes provide a timely reminder of housing’s capacity to beat the odds, however tough.
