Comment on: MPs attack lack of social homes on dog track site
Am I missing something? I thought the point of RSL's developing 'private' housing was to subsidise social/affordable housing. It appears the vast majority of profit from the private housing in this instance is being re-directed to s106 contributions. Or is the proposal to redirect to other social/affordable housing scheme?

Surely the £3.8m should be spent by the council on providing or subsidising additional affordable housing within the borough considering the actual number of affordable homes is well below the 50% guideline?
Does not this set a dangerous precedent for future 'private' developments?
Could the L&Q spokesperson confirm how much of the profit i.e. amount, will be re-invested to subsidise future affordable housing i.e. number of units? -

Steve King, I couldn't put it better myself. However, I would go further and say many housing associations employ equally incompetent staff.

Comment on: Grant Shapps in HMR 'Luftwaffe' attack
Three points. Firstly Grant Shapps is Jewish. Secondly, many of these HMR areas were/are located in former coal mining areas hence market failure. Lastly, having worked in HMR areas, many of the actual HMR staff were hopeless with no qualifications in housing.

If the rest of the housing big cheeses were like Lara I'm sure Mr Shapps wouldn't be so disparaging about the housing profession. How can one not dislike Lara? And I suggest you take a look at the full length photo of Lara on p15 in the magazine - certainly the most stylish person in housing today.....
