CLG are going to set up a Neighbourhood Planning Fund with the funding currently provided to Planning Aid. If the £20K figure is correct then only about 150 - 200 neighbourhood plans will get financial support. Obviously CLG will need to ration funding but will those most in need come forward or will it the usual suspects that don't want to see change.
Comment on: Poor areas hit by local government cuts
Local Authorities need to look at not only the costs of running facilities and services but how they can deliver services more effectively. There may well be scope to close some facilities but Authorities need to use evidence to make informed decisions and significant efficiencies may be delivered through changes to operations such as putting services out to a trust or through improved programming. The alternative is slash and burn which may not be cost effective in long run.
