Barnet's loss is older people's gain

The High Court decision against the reform of warden services in Barnet is a welcome one and a great victory in the fight to keep this valuable service.

It must not be forgotten that people who live in sheltered housing have chosen that option because of the security and peace of mind it brings.
Sheltered housing managers, for example, help to keep the number of falls by residents low and facilitate earlier discharge from hospital. They can recognise potentially serious situations before they happen.

This is the level of service that tenants expected when they moved in and deserve. While we, like Barnet, would want to see more services for people in their own homes, why should we take away services that work and remain popular?
