L&Q signs up for 2,500-home project
L&Q will become a development partner for a £1bn, 2,500-home regeneration project which includes a film studio complex.
The 70,000-home landlord has this week finalised a deal to become a partner in a company called Purfleet Centre Regeneration, which will build 2,500 homes on brownfield land in Thurrock, Essex. The company consists of development manager Urban Catalyst and construction firm Keltbray.
The precise tenure mix of the 2,500 homes has yet to be decided. Jerome Geoghegan, group director of development and sales at L&Q, said the scheme will “create thousands of new homes accessible to a range of buyers and renters”.
The proposed scheme also includes a new school, improved railway station and a new 600,000 sq ft media village, with film and TV studio complex.
Mr Geoghegan said: “This project will create major long-term social and economic benefits for the area.”
Purfleet Centre Regeneration will now be going out for further local consultation on the masterplan over the next six months.
