Persimmon announces increase in completions

One of Britain’s largest house builders has announced an 8% annual increase in completions.

Persimmon, in a trading update issued to the stock market today, reported 14,572 new home completions in 2015, up from 13,509 in 2014.

Completions in the second half of 2015 rose 13% to 7,717, compared to the same period the previous year, while turnover for the whole year rose 13% to £2.9bn year on year.

The house builder also announced it has bought 20,500 new plots of land over the last year.

It said the application of the National Planning Policy Framework, which has simplified planning guidance and introduced measures such as a duty for councils to co-operate, has “supported improvements in land release for development”.

The statement said: “The group has an exciting pipeline of opportunities emerging from its strategic land portfolio and we remain well placed to realise our disciplined growth plans as part of the execution of our long-term strategy.”

Persimmon’s full annual results for 2015 will be published on 23 February.
