Be careful of what you say

I was dismayed to read in your otherwise good article ‘Risen from the ashes’ (Inside Housing, 30 July) the phrase: ‘Residents at St Giles suffer a variety of moderate disabilities.’

The word ‘suffer’ is completely devaluing of the people who live at St Giles, the activities and involvement described in the article showed people living a dynamic life and not ‘suffering’.

We expect our trade journal to be more careful about the use of this archaic and negative language.
