Increasing collaboration will be crucial in enabling us to continue to support our communities, build new homes and provide opportunities for all against a backdrop of funding constraint.
As a group of housing organisations managing 135,000 homes, we are already exploring new ways to deliver joint economies of scale in areas such as retrofitting green technology to our properties.
As well as challenges, there are of course opportunities; significant investment in the low carbon economy supports our shared aspiration of lowering fuel bills for tenants, creating jobs and developing capacity in the green technology sector.
However, against a backdrop of long-term pressure on public funds, increasing demand for homes and services and the impetus for radical reform, genuine dialogue with the government is also crucial.
Housing minister Grant Shapps can draw on the collective experience, expertise and insight within this sector to help shape a system that delivers a better future for the communities we serve.
We therefore welcome the opportunity to develop solutions in partnership with the government.
