Connaught acted in the belief that Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) did apply in the case of our staff working in Sheffield.
No works were allocated to ourselves for the new financial year commencing April 2008, which meant we were unable to provide on-going employment.
Working within the statutory TUPE regulations, we approached two other service providers on the framework and subsequently transferred 20 workers to Henry Boot.
We were unfortunately unable to reach a suitable agreement for the transfer of our remaining 24 staff and we have taken a one-off decision to make payments to the employees equating to their redundancy entitlements. Peter Jones, managing director, Connaught Partnerships North
