Ikea property arm planning 1,200 homes
The development arm of the retail giant Ikea has submitted plans for 1,200 homes on a multi-acre site close to the Olympic Park.
LandProp Holdings is proposing to redevelop land it owns to the south of the Olympic Park in Stratford. The first phase of the development – known as Dane’s Yard - is already underway.
The plans for Strand East would see the construction of 1,200 homes, a 350-bed hotel as well as office space, bars and restaurants.
Andrew Cobden, UK manager LandProp, said: ‘Strand East will be an outstanding place to live and work, built with the long term in mind and to the highest standards, respecting the environment and celebrating the heritage of the area.
‘We see Strand East as a place for families and businesses to grow and put down strong roots.
‘Work is well underway on Dane’s Yard, the first phase of Strand East which already has planning consent with the restaurant and exhibition space opening in June.
‘I very much hope that the planning application will be met with similar approval, so that we can progress the delivery of Strand East for the benefit of all.’
The planning application has been submitted to London Thames Gateway Development Corporation and has been validated by the London Borough of Newham.
