House Proud – Devolved is the latest stage of our House Proud campaign. This began last year with the aim of pushing housing up the political agenda in the run up to the general election. This time round we are focusing on the importance of good housing in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as they prepare to go to the polls.
You can get involved by signing our petition in support of the campaign, using the key facts we will provide to argue the case for housing, and sending us your case studies demonstrating the contribution housing organisations make to society.

Spot the difference
Devolution means politicians in Scotland and Wales can stray from the UK party line. But is there really such a big difference? Rhiannon Bury finds out.
The original campaign
House
Proud was a joint initiative from Inside
Housing and the
Chartered Institute of Housing, run ahead of the 2010 General Election.
Its aim
was to shout about housing’s crucial contribution to every
aspect of social
policy, and demonstrate the importance of good housing to key
politicians from
all the major parties.
- First we wanted 250 backers
to sign a
petition to be delivered to the new government.
- Second, we wanted each of
the three main
political parties to include a housing pledge in their election
manifestos.
- Finally,
we wanted to get the sector
fighting housing’s corner as the election approached. To make
housing a key
election issue at every opportunity, and encourage staff, residents,
friends
and family to do the same.
The campaign achieved all three of its aims, and although it ended before the election we will continue to promote the importance of good housing through this website and Inside Housing magazine.
