Getting involved in the HRA review

Alan Walter is right in saying that there needs to be a strong tenant voice in discussions around the housing revenue account review (Letters, Inside Housing, 4 July).

I’m pleased to confirm that the Tenant Participation Advisory Service England has already been working with Communities and Local Government department officials to ensure that that voice is heard. That includes our chair, Dennis Rees, a tenant, being a member of the steering group and two other TPAS nominated tenants on sub-groups. We’ve also supported tenants attending the recent sessions in Leeds and Bristol and will be setting up an HRA review panel of TPAS members to inform our work on the emerging findings of the review. More immediately, I’m very pleased that as part of the TPAS annual conference we will be holding an interactive voting session, chaired by Dennis Rees and involving members of the HRA review team.

This will allow tenants present to play a very real role in discussing the review with the lead officials and to vote on key issues within the review.

Phil Morgan, chief executive, TPAS England
