Housing Heroes shortlist unveiled
The shortlisted entrants for awards that recognise the unsung ‘heroes’ of the housing sector have been announced.
The Housing Heroes awards, which are jointly run by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, were set up last year to acknowledge the work of front-line housing practitioners.
For the 2010 awards there are 14 trophies up for grabs, recognising everyone from the best HR, maintenance and finance/procurement team to the inspirational board member and tenant.
The full shortlist is below, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony at London’s Hilton Hotel on 14 May.
For more information on Housing Heroes see our awards page.

Good to see London & Quadrant Housing Trust up for 'Maintenance Team of the Year' despite having trouble with Kass's toilet.

As usual, as a good professional, you know very little of what you are talking about, it is L&Q Stock and Transfer team nominated, which has nothing to do which I assume had nothing to do with my toilet. I do not think L&Q will ever get a nomination for repair maintenance.

Kass I'm not a 'professional'.
In my opinion there are only really three professions anyway.
How can we nominate 'Inspirational Tenant of the Year'.
I have an idea for a campaign...

Yes, you right. If not me at least a London and Quadrant tenant should have been nominated as Inspirational Tenant of the Year...
I am very upset. We L&Q Tenants are the best in the land and with L&Q growing by the day we will soon be the biggest HA in the land, so there is so many of us and not to have a nomination in this category is just not good enough... And no Inspirational Board or Cabinet Member of the Year either? And no Inspirational anything?...

Pity there isn't a category for 'Long suffering Board member of the Year' as there is no doubt that a Three Valleys Housing Tenant based Board Member would walk away with the trophy. Things are looking up though - take the Chairman of Three Valleys for instance - yes please, someone take him, for goodness sake!!

Kass - I take my hat off to you for retaining a sense of humour. And unlike Melvin I consider myself to be a professional - go for your life!!!

There are only three professions and only three sports.
There really ought to be a name and shame award for Housing Associations much like the 'Rotten Borough' awards that Private Eye have...
Worst Tenant, Worst Maintenance, Worst Excuse for failure, Most pointless Court Case...

Of course by constatly refusing what the hell you do in or out of the social housing you are safe for being given the prize of the Worst All Rounder.
