Two-star rating for midlands landlord
Daventry and District Housing Association has received a two-star rating from the Audit Commission for its housing management.
The watchdog found tenants receive a ‘good’ service, and the association has ‘excellent prospects for improvement’.
The landlord was praised for its work on home improvements, tackling anti-social behaviour, and involving residents in improving services.
It fell down on not answering telephone calls quickly enough, or effectively managing complaints.
The inspectors recommended the association introduce more challenging targets for answering calls, improve the management of its complaints system, and improve its aids and adaptations service.
Ann Bennett, the Audit Commission’s lead housing inspector for the east midlands said: ‘Daventry and District Housing Association has done well in areas that matter most to tenants, such as the condition of their homes.’
Daventry and District was set up in 2007 to receive homes from Daventry District Council. It is part of Futures Housing Group, and manages 3,100 homes.

'Daventry...has done well in areas that matter most to tenants..'
Which begs the question of why does the Audit Commission seem to focus so much of its attention when carrying out inspections on issues that have little or no impact on tenants? The more cynical amongst us may think it is simply to justify their own existence and has little to do with improving aspects of performance that actually matter!!
