I launched the first large scale voluntary transfer funded on the bond market when I was chief executive at Pavilion Housing Association (now part of the First Wessex Group) in 1996. Mervyn and I have had parallel careers.
We had most fun when we were both on the National Housing Federation National Council and would always contrive to sit together so that we had to be identified as Mervyn (South) and Mervyn (North).
The much more famous Mervyn Jones, socialist author, sadly passed away on 23 February.
