Comment on: Cosmo and Sanctuary strike historic deal
I'm not sure that this is in the best interests of all parties. The bigger they are, the harder they fall, comes to mind here. I think these large organisations should be broken down into smaller manageable sectors, even if they come under the same 'brand name' because they will then be more accountable to their tenants (transparent) at a local level.
That's very good on them, but what about the members of the forces who will be looking for somewhere to live after being discharged shortly. These people who have served their country for many years and are being kicked out because they are no longer needed. I would have thought these people need urgent consideration as well as the police.
This, on the face of it sounds a good idea. I just hope the right people get trained to do a good job, not just a 'nodding donkey' culture. I feel sorry for private resident/landlords, as I think, unless your landlord has quite a few properties in one location, this wouldn't be quite as effective as council and housing association landlords who have many properties in selected areas that this could benefit from. Perhaps, if, with the consent of your landlord, (private) you may be able to link up with other private landlord/residents in your area to form some sort of consortium/forum that may give you the same sort of 'weight' in this case.
Comment on: Million households seek one bedroom homes
This a very low-down sneaky way of punishing people who can't move because there isn't enough singe-roomed accommodation to go round, and the Govt knew this !! The whole sorry state of this is the fact that those who own their own homes get away with sharing this burden. It stinks of Tories looking after the rich yet again.
Comment on: Asylum seekers 'forced into destitution'
I'm sorry, but when times are as hard as they are now, we ought to send them back until we CAN afford to support these people.
