Comment on: Petition seeks legal duty to support single homeless
A lot of relatives would be happy to house their own single family members but cannot afford to do so as a single person living with a relative is not entitled to any help with their rent and have to live on their job seekers allowance.
This means the quality of life for the relative housing a single person falls as they have to make up the shortfall. Many elderly people fall into this category and end up in poverty, especially if they were just outside the benefit system because they payed into a pension scheme when working.
The elderly person even loses the right to a 25 percent discount on their Council tax. This is Granny bashing on a large scale. -
Comment on: DWP housing benefit cut plans 'cost more'
Perhaps s better way would be to allow family members to claim housing benefit if they are unemployed and living with their elderly parent/s to enable them to pay a contribution towards the rent.
I am sure more parents would welcome their children back home but cannot afford to when their only source of income is their old age pension. -
Comment on: Right to buy revival to fund new homes
I see no mention made of the fact that in the 80's the Government said there was too much money in Pension Funds and employers were allowed to take a holiday from making their contribution to their companies Pension Fund, employees were nor allowed this privilege they had to continue to pay.
We now see they pay as yoiu earn penalised and the employers getting all the sympathy from this government and employers are being allowed to get off scot free.
What happened to a Fair and decent life in this Country of ours.
What about all the millionaire MP's donating a few millions pounds into the economy to help it would not affect their quality of life. -

I get fed up with people renting being called scroungers.
What right to buy did for people in the 80s was:
Make more people homelss when they found yes, they could just afford to buy but when essential repairs were needed their income was just not enough to cope, their homes were repossessed, they had to continue to pay the mortgage until a rich vulture bought their home. The vulture then rented it out at an unaffordable rents with no security of tenure.
People with disabilities or long term illness were unable to transfer to ground floor homes, houses or bungalows because they had been creamed off by buyers.
My Husband had Multiple Sclerosis but managed to complete 42 years at work. Despite us both having paid into pension schemes we could not afford to buy as we had to sprend our income went on buying disability aids to make his life liveable.
