Labour to launch PRS policy
Labour is to launch the first of its policies on the private rented sector in the next few weeks, Hilary Benn has told the Local Government Association conference.
The shadow secretary of state for communities and local government spoke at the annual LGA conference in Birmingham yesterday.
A Labour source said: ‘Labour is ready to start to show the shape of its thinking on housing.’ He said that the launch would be the first of a number over the summer on how Labour intends to deal with the PRS.
Housing minister Jack Dromey told single homeless people’s charity Crisis’ last month the proposals would be tough and a ‘radically different model’ from the Conservative policy.
He said the initial proposals were likely to be launched in July.
