Comment on: Council in bid to let new homes at social rent level
Commendable but when they say social rent do they mean council rent?

Comment on: Surpluses double at largest housing associations
Spot on Chris as usual - there used to be a poster who kept banging on about subsidised rents and wouldn't take any of the evidence on board, I think it suited him to believe the government spin and stigmatising.
So it turns out that profits are produced in "social housing", sorry I meant surpluses - silly me! So what profits will affordable rents make as a GP %?
I vividly recall the smarmy stock transfer consultants in this area you know the "independent" ones saying that "surpluses would be ploughed back into housing". I know it sounds like they were on a farm but do you think they might not have been telling the truth - no surely not.
So what profit margin do private landlords make on say £1,200 per month ...... must pay the mortgage and return a healthy profit. We don't want to spoil that by building more council housing for the people do we? -
Comment on: Damage limitation
Will MPs be introducing a similar "bedroom tax" for themselves - broadest shoulders and all that!

Comment on: Borough raises concerns over welfare reform
I'm grateful to Tower Hamlets for standing up for us. It's shameful that the Tories and LibDems do not care about tenants and choose to pile on the agony coupled with the stigmatisation. If only a political party would take on board the interests of tenants we would have someone to vote for. The constant dispensing of housing association/private development get rich quick schemes where there should be council housing at genuinely affordable rents is sickening. The constant attacks on tenants rights and undermining of council housing reflects poorly on those in power that have several spare bedrooms or spare houses.

Comment on: Council plans to build 400 homes for market rent
Giving up public land to be chucked a bone by developers doesn't ring my bells Eddie.
