This isn't new in Westminster. Close friends of mine were in a bedsit in Page Street from their daughters birth until she was seven.
The majority of private landlords are already refusing to take HB tenants, they don't get enough money since the last cap.
Sadly, tenantplus, we're not very good at civil disobedience in this country. People see it as a green light to burn down other peoples houses and loot shops.
Glad to see Barnet Homes got a nod. May not always deliver but, do really focus on their residents.
Robert, Olympic Village has already been sold as use for housing. Currently there are no kitchens, so has to be refitted after games.
Not certain if the consortium that have bought the Village intend any of it for affordable housing, it's led by the Quatri royal family, I believe.
If you a tenant who's been waiting months for major maintainance/repairs and have been fobbed off at every turn when work is incomplete, appointments aren't kept you are not going to be very happy to see the detail of this expenditure.
Hope they win.
If not and a possible small, shred of comfort is these types of weapons only work with clear skies. Human operated, with a lazer sight. If you can't see the lazer on the target, you can't fire the rocket.
If you wish to see some of the problems and effect on towns and communities visit Peterborough. Have a wander round and chat with locals. Seeing is believing.
"In the vast majority of cases the tenants will simply NOT pay the LHA element of Universal Credit to the landlord"
Gary, would you like to evidence the above for me?
Most of Europe rent, it's considered normal, nothing to write a headline about. The greedy, reckless days have gone.
Perhaps it's not such a bad thing that folk will be more interested in a roof over their head, rather then boring/impressing anyone who will listen about how much equity they've got (or used have).
