Comment on: Peabody submits £120m plans
Little funding, they need to make up the money somewhere in order to continue creating new properties. Rental income from social units funds their maintenance, so if you want Housing providers building any new properties, this is your option.

Finally. Maybe we will stop hearing about this dog track now.

Comment on: Scottish landlord to test direct payments
RIP Dunedin Canmore Group. Either that or they will go back within a few months to stave off having to pay direct.
On the bright side, most landlords are just lining up to make 8 week applications for direct payment.
Many of the tenants will simply go out and spend the money on the things they've always wanted, not the rent. I've seen it happen consistently in such scenarios for years now and when UC comes in, I fully expect smaller social landlords to end up being swallowed up or failing. So L&Q etc buy up these smaller landlords and their stock. -
Comment on: Charity warns of pre-Olympic evictions
Anecdotal sure, but I've seen 3 people this week been given their marching orders.
One landlord (private) already has his Olympic tenants lined up for when the others are gone, at the low low price of £4,000 per week!
He isn't worried, as he is working on having another couple back in after the Olympics for the normal rent the current future evictees are paying.
Is this really a shock for people though? You would think people had their heads in the sand (or up somewhere) to have not realised this was going to happen years ago when we got the Olympics. -
Comment on: Tenant to be evicted for behaviour of partner
C'mon Sense | 02/05/2012 2:05 pm
A good start to her 2 year old daughters life.
One would hope a better start if it means her mother gets shot of her partner. I can't imagine being brought up with such a man in the house would give her a better start in life.
