Professor Gray, who is professor of housing at the University of Ulster, will hold the position for the next 12 months.

He has identified his priorities for the year as:

  • Continuing to modernise the CIH
  • Building relationships between housing professionals internationally
  • Focusing on education for housing professionals.

CIH chief executive Sarah Webb said: ‘The role of CIH president is an incredibly important one and even more so now as housing faces challenging times ahead in light of the new government’s budget and policy priorities.

‘As the professional body for housing, CIH will be in the forefront of the campaign to make the case for housing and there is no better man to lead that campaign than Paddy Gray.’

Professor Gray replaces Howard Farrand who has come to the end of his term as president.
