An interactive live performance of a play inspired by Cathy Come Home will be streamed live tonight, with readers able to change the plot acted out on stage.

Cathy, billed as a modern re-telling of Ken Loach’s classic television play and produced by Cardboard Citizens, has been touring theatres and will tonight be shown live online from 7.45pm.

Viewers will be able to change the outcomes for characters by making suggestions through an online forum and by using the #CathyLive hashtag on Twitter.

Viewers will also be able to suggest new legislation to tackle homelessness, with the suggestions collated and shared with homelessness charities to feed into national campaigning.

The play is loosely inspired by Cathy Come Home, which was first screened 50 years ago in November and has been credited with inspiring people to set up housing associations and homelessness charities.

Cardboard CItizens is a charity that produces plays about homelessness and housing.
