Our art editor Sonny Dhamu picks his favourite Inside Housing pictures from 2016
Photographer: Jon Enoch
Sonny says: “This was for an interview with London Assembly member Andrew Boff at City Hall. I love the low-angle shot with the shapes; those curves and angular lines everywhere give it a very futuristic feel.”
Photographer: Simon Brandon
“This was on a caravan park on Canvey Island, Essex, for a feature to mark our Cathy at 50 campaign. It is just fantastic the way the ship is going past – is this normal on the Essex seas or did Simon get lucky?”
Photographer: Peter Searle
“This shoot followed the merger of L&Q and East Thames. I briefed the photographer for this side-on pose – I thought it would work well across a spread in print. I was really happy to see the photographer managed to get them outside overlooking what is more than likely some of their homes.”
Photographer: Peter Searle
“This shot accompanied a write-up of an interview with Lord Bob Kerslake. The lighting and symmetry on this photograph are fantastic. You’re not quite sure what Lord Kerslake is thinking, which adds a sense of mystery. My favourite photograph of the year.”

“This was for a photo-led feature for our Housing 2016 bumper issue. There were so many good portraits to choose from but I’ve settled on this one as the colour of the subject’s hair inspired me for the colour to use in the feature.”
Photographer: Tim Foster
“In April Inside Housing went to the Thamesmead Estate in London to talk about regeneration plans. It is such an arty shot – you really have to focus in to see what it is: a rusting trolley. I think it could quite easily sit in an exhibition.”
