Olympic Village homes moving ahead
The latest images released by the Olympic Delivery Authority show work is underway on the first floor of the Olympic Village residential buildings.
After the 2012 games the accommodation will be converted into homes. A spokesman for the authority said up to 3,000 units would be available, and at least 30 per cent would be affordable.
ODA chief executive David Higgins said: ‘The Olympic Village will be one of the strongest legacies from the games and these images show the progress we are making on site.’
The Olympic Village will consist of 11 residential blocks, each of between five and seven buildings. In the last six months builders Lend Lease Europe have started work on the super-structure of the buildings, and put in the foundations for four of the blocks.
Work is also underway on the infrastructure and services.
