Passivhaus Training & Tour
22 May 2012
The passivhaus standard is "a watershed moment in our relationship with the built environment [and I] would like to see every new home in the UK reach the standard" Chris Huhne, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate, October 2010. Passivhaus (Passive House) principles are a key methodology for building low carbon homes, resulting in minimal heating demand. The Passivhaus standard can help you achieve high levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes and significantly reduce heating bills. This introductory Passivhaus course is developed and delivered by Sustainable Homes with Certified Passivhaus Designers. It will give you a clear understanding of the design priniciples, drivers and outcomes and will help you to incorporate Passivhaus in your developments. Passivhaus standards are ever more relevant with tightening building standards, demanding carbon targets and rising energy bills. In 2011, Code for Sustainable Homes level 4 is expected to become a requirement for planning permissions in many areas, starting with Greater London.
