Comment on: Guide to stop private tenants being exploited released
Mr Pearce, you seem to be on par as my landlord, I have a brilliant landlord - why - because I treat his house with respect as if it was my own, if there is a problem in the house I email him and get the go ahead to get some-one in to do the repairs. I DON'T want to be forced from my home because of the government or get some-one in to share - a), I wouldn't feel safe as I live on my own and b) I don't want to be responsible for damages caused by other people.
Surely a landlord can say who they want in their houses/flats why the hell must the government dictate. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand why landlord are now charging high rents, not because they are greedy like the government states, well, not all of them any-way, but to cover the costs of damages done to their properties, which is fair enough and half the time the deposit paid doesnt cover the costs.
To put some people straight who believes landlords are the evil ones, my landlord's previous tennant in this house I now rent, put dirty disposable nappies, animal mess old food etc behind the kick boards in the kitchen, there was mess on the bathroom walls couldn't be bothered to wipe their backside with paper, this house was horrendous took ages to get rid of the smell.
A programme on tennants from hell is a brilliant idea as it would help some landlords, not all landlords are the same. -

This government is taking the mick surely, who are they to say where we can live and where we can't, I have been extremely lucky that since I moved in my landlord has not put up my rent, it is the same as what it was in 2009! I obviously haven't applied for increase in HB as there was no need to, but yet through the governments housing reform I shall suffer greatly, after all I only get a measly £75 per week towards my rent. Before I moved in my home previous tennants trashed this house which isn't fair, hasn't people got any respect. This is why rents are going so high to cover any damages caused by tennants!
As for having a stranger in my home that is definately a NO NO I wouldn't sleep at night, would they have strangers in their homes? would they be happy to have a stranger living in their mother's/father's home iff one of their parents live on their own, I don't think so! They should practice what they preach! -
