AFFORDABLE? Another huge con on those with the least in our society... It is the new face of the Rachman Landlord in our age, enthusiasistically embraced by HAs and social landlords, done with all the care in the world and in the tenant's best interest of course.

  • From Neil Meager, 27/01/2012 1:00 pm in Shapps Speaks - but then what?

All i see around me is evidence of a society divided up by race age & gender & sexual orientation in fact a more cynical part of me wud say theres a Nazi program being put in place. I see buy to let landlords running nice homes better than government housing but excluding the poor from major cities using the LHA system. RSLs budgets being slashed making their task of providing decent homes impossible & yet tenant empowerment programs being setup which is easy to see will plug the gap & replace RSLs which shud face bankruptucy soon. Homeownership ...

yes i have moved into a flat that on closer inspection has been bogded & fitted with low grade fittings that when fallls apart is considered broken by the tenant so repair company wont repair. The flat fails the decent homes act & the is a carbon positive home & has made me ill & financially crippled me in trying to heat the place & the association is failing to help me get out of fuel poverty.

Shouldn't real values have been published by now - or are they leaving it as a surprise for the new year once we've swallowed the excessive hike in transport company profits!

Why do people want to see more benefit paid for private tenancies in place of council ones. Does the money become more superior if it is paid in higher quantities to private landlords, and do the tenants transform away from the monsters the press and tories would suggest that they are.

'how does one go about bequething 'collective interest'?' - via a covenant, for instance.

  • From F451, 14/11/2011 12:34 pm in £50 billion to be spent on homes & infrastructure?

Appropriate question - but surely the first question must be: 'I wonder how much will be forthcoming?'

It has been dissappointing that the hopeless Minister choose not to refloat this idea at conference.

  • From Howard Clark, 04/10/2011 11:58 am in use of psycometric testingin recruitment

The use of Psychometric testing is an assumption about the role that staff play in organizational performance. It suggests that by weeding out the bad people, in some way you will get the hard-working people left over. Hard working normally means compliant, able to follow instructions, work hard etc.
