Interim head appointed for housing executive
The current vice-chair of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive will take over as acting chair while the board completes the public appointment process.
Anne Henderson steps up to the role with immediate effect, following the resignation of previous chair Brian Rowntree earlier this month.
Mr Rowntree was due to end his tenure in November, but stepped down early over alleged ‘challenging relationship’ with the Department for Social Development. His replacement will be appointed by November.
His resignation came a day before a damning report on the landlord’s management of repairs contracts led to it being placed supervision by the DSD. This was followed later in the week by a similarly critical report from the Northern Ireland Audit Office.
The NIHE’s board is responsible for the efficient, effective and economic delivery of the Housing Executive’s services. It determines policies within its overall aims and objectives and makes decisions on operational and organisational strategies.
