Talks begin to create 13,000-home northern giant
Two north-west housing associations have begun talks over the establishment of a joined-up group structure that would create a new group responsible for more than 13,500 homes.
Willow Park Housing Trust and Parkway Green Housing Trust - which both operate in Wythenshawe, south of Manchester – have confirmed that they ‘are examining the potential of establishing a legal partnership’.
The move was driven by a desire to improve service delivery for both providers.
The boards of both groups are understood to believe that the tie-up would represent a good fit due to their shared values and cultures, although they stressed that the process is ‘at a very early stage’.
Parkway Green began life in 2006 when it took ownership of 6,000 homes in Wythenshawe from Manchester Council. Willow Park was set up in 1999 and owns and manages 7,800 in East Wythenshawe.
Between them, the organisations employ more than 500 staff.
