Sancho - a lot of voids in the Midlands and North? That the stereotypical myth that just perpetuates despite the facts being different. If you or anyone has facts that say high void rates in Midlands and North I would happily change that view
Ged - Social landlords managing neighbourhoods - nice turn of phrase thats very common, but shouldnt they manage housing first - get that right first and foremost.
General needs social housing is about bricks and mortar not people, always has and always will simply because it cant afford to deal with people else rents have to incrase to cover these roles.
Supported housing is about people not general needs and unfortunately supported housing is often misunderstood by general needs HOs and also doesnt have the funding to do other than pay lip service.
So while its a laudable iuntention the funding for it has to follow and its simply not there. All that then happens is 'housing' (general needs and supported) gets more and more and often unwarranted blame
If the funding is there rights and responsibilities becomes praactical, if not it remains in the realms of theoretical fantasy
