My RSL is a total failure when it comes to dealing with criminal and anti-social behaviour. Over the last 10 years a neighbouring family has continually threatened the community I live in. The list of offences includes;
Heroin dealing, weapon carrying, violence causing bodily harm & intimidation of vulnerable neighbours et al.
They have a long string of convictions, police cautions and police warnings and yet the RSL has failed to take effective action against them. Recently this family have thrown stones and other objects into a neighbours garden once again endangering the resident they have attacked for years and all the RSL offered was another warning.
How can one enforce the Covenant (Contract) the RSL has with it's residents when they are totally unwilling to act to protect their residents and the courts seem unwilling to help as well?
One final point. I was recently informed by the ASB officer of the RSL that should one be attacked on the public footpath right outside one's home then that is a matter for the council's ASB unit and not the RSL. I find this staggering as the tenancy agreement clearly refers to neighbourhood and one would assume the pavement outside one's home was in the neighbourhood.
