If you bothered to read the initial comment Chris you'd appreciate that the youth in question has security of tenure, and states quite clearly he/she'd would prefer to take the option of sponging off the state rather than working, whilst being slightly worse off financially.
There's no mention of a risk of homelessness at any point. Working leaves the original poster £32 better off than dole "wages". This attitude towards state support is what needs to be changed, not handing out free stuff as you seem to support. The name of "jobseekers allowance" should be noted.
Here we have a clear example of a lack of application as a result of the disproportionate level of state support sapping the ambtion and motivation from somebody who could be economically active but chooses not to be.
I don't understand how people can support such actions in the sure and certain knowledge it involves the average tax payer having to foot the bill.
