It must be soul destroying having to accepy a mere £197k per annum as PM (excluding all the other perks such as free accommodations, travel etc) .
FIVE whole years of penury until you realise the £20m per annum true level of a PMs salary once your 5-year stint is over!!
But all those other poor cabinet ministers will only realise about £5m per annum post political service from the private sector.
I could go on but Shapps is taking the convenient p**s here in this knee jerk easy target attack. Its a wholly false comparison and of course we dont have the argument put forward that private sector CEOs should not earn more than the PM or a public sector CEO. The point about Birmingham CEO above is illuminating. BCC will have a turnover running into billions - strange how we dot see councils that way isnt it? - yet the salary level their compares very poorly with many private sector CEOs whose turnovers may only be 5% of that
If BCC t/o is say £4bn or £4,000,000,000 and CEO is paid £250k pa then how does that compare to a private sector firm with a t/o of £200m (just 5%) with a CEO paid £5m?
Get real Shapps what is tomorrows knee-jerk non story?
