Why all the complicated mathematics?
Crawley Borough Council was prepared to sell to a housing association its entire stock of around 8300 homes (mostly houses) for around £2500 each in a proposed a deal signed off by Central Government representatives in the South East of England. Although the open market value of the stock for private sale would approach £1billion.
What is sauce for the Goose (Housing Association) should be sauce for the Gander (Crawley Borough Council) and the town hall should be able to buy out of the HRA system on a similar basis to proposed privatisation deal i.e. for around £20-30million and not the extortionate £240million muted by the last Government as the sum needed for Crawley to own outright its DEBT FREE housing stock i.e buying again something it and council tenants had already paid for.
