Lets privatise them, after all this would realise an immediate £3.46bn per year additional HB income for HAs.
Thats based on the average £36.61 per week HB in payment to unregulated PSLs over RSLs multiply the number of RSL HB claimants at 1,812,000.
Or put correctly the amount of excess profit charged to the public purse each year by private sector landlords is £3.46bn.
Or put another way is PSL LHA rates were linked to the RSL HB rate then the public purse could save £3.46bn per year.
Thats £3.46bn per year extra we all pay for properties that (a) are less secure in tenure, (b) give tenants fewer rights, (c) are inferior in quality and health and safety, (d) dont put conditions on landlords such as ASB involvement or (e) tenant involvement etc etc etc.
If we privatise the RSLs they will be free from such costs and constraints and will make far greater profits than the initial £3.46bn rent hike as they will be able to be regulated (sic) in the same way as PSLs are now. Current social tenants will then shut up moaning as they will be in same boat as PSL tenants - you know ask for repaires and get notice - and then the Tory masterplan will see totally subserviant and compliant tenants who will need to get off their backsides and work.
The only downside - RTB will go - booooo!!
