Shapps plans to deliver 150,000 homes in 4-years in order to build more homes that Labour did.
The government advisors want to see 3 times that delivery in a quarter of the time, quoting Labour's best recent output of 150,000 homes in a year!
Rational people recognise that Labour's housing delivery was shamefull for a supposed Socialist Party - aiming to beat it is hardly cause for celebration - but delivery on the advised scale is one step towards undoing 30-years of social destruction.
What this all goes to show is that Shapps settling to do better than Labour avoids delivering on his declared objectives to make affordability for all the norm, remove the 'market' incentive of housing as an investment and instead make houses homes again, and reduce homelessness and waiting lists. These objective can be met with the advised target, but not on Shapps's planned delivery of building per year what is needed per month.
