New Labour were totally awful for tenants and poorer
communities in the past 13 years , as they allowed
housing rents to go up by over 200% and even
social landlords were allowed to push their rents up
by 6-7-8% per annum ,with the housing benefit bill
going up from £5bn per year to £13bn per year after
these 13 years.
The Tories are now keeping these high rents
but cutting all sorts of benefits, thereby creating
a massive benefits gap for poorer people,as the
gap will get bigger with annual rent increases.
Sadly, it seems the tories want to move about
2 million households who they consider to be
overpriced / overhoused, but they are not
providing any dedicated housing stategy to
assist those people to move home.
